Trieste, Italy. Meteorologists forecasted light winds for the 40th edition of the Barcolana, the annual international sailing event eagerly awaited by everyone. In deed they were right! This year 1912 participant boats have sailed 16 miles in very light wind conditions but those taking part in the race came with the right spirit. Despite the fluky conditions all the top participants were met up for winning. Among the many boats with sails made out of Spidertech™ technology, there was a group of girls which made of winning in Sports a reason of life: ten Olympic athletes from Friuli Region sailing on Magic, the Solaris 36 had Larissa Nevierov at the helm and sails were made by Ullman Sails designed and built with Spidertech™ technology.

“Sailing at the Barcolana is always exciting, this year the weather was not on our side, however the sails proved to be very fast during training” said Larissa. Spidertech™ Team was amused and honored to have such a group of Olympic champions trusting their technology, this young team of very expert sport women were winner of the recent edition of “Bernetti Trophy ”. “We had an excellent race, I’m really satisfied and we were having a lot of fun” concluded Larissa. “We’ve made light membrane sails for the genoas and mainsail using 30% black kevlar and 70 % carbon and as usual the Spidertech™ Team has delivered the ideal product” added Roberto Vencato of Ullman Sails Trieste.

The Magic team includes ten athletes that took part at the recent Beijing Olympic Games: Margherita Granbassi, fencing bronze medal, Chiara Cainero target shooting gold, Larissa Nevierov, Giulia Pignolo, Chiara Calligaris and Francesca Scogmamillo sailors, Valentina Turisini target shooting silver medal at Athens Games, Francesca Benolli and Federica Macrì gymnasts, and Noemi Batki a swimmer.
