SpiderPlan is borne
As a logical development of Spidertech Integrated System a new piece of smart software has been added to the design tools range ST Authorised Designers are equipped with.
In this case though the software is out for sale at a real bargain price of 560 Euros and it’s the ideal tool for the designers of yachts, sails, masts, for the advanced rigger, for boatyards.

The software wants to be a common tool that can be used to iterate the design information between all the various engineers that at turn design and build each component of the propulsive yacht-system.

SpiderPlan has various features
allow the yacht designer to design the 3d outline of the sailplan in a mainsail-genoa configuration.
The program helps the designer to decide the effective perimeter of the sails making sure that measurements are compatible with the standing rigging and the car track position, besides all the other attachment points of the sail. Whilst the sail outline is simply drawn, the software provides immediate calculation of areas and lead. The data can be internally re-elaborated to be applied in the designer’s design procedure.

- allow the creation of the complete sail yacht 3d model via IGES import-export standard.
The sail shape is represented by some standard shape, whilst the designer can bring in the geometry of the mast (or use the default one), the geometry of the hull, deck and appendages. The full 3d data can then be exported to a rendering program. SpiderPlan is able to provide basic rendering functions.

- allow the work to be carried on the same exchange-data platform
If the sail designer is a S.A.D. (Spidertech Authorised Designer) he will continue his work on the same platform for the sail design, will add shape, structure and eventually performance analysis. He will then be able to transfer the new information back to the yacht designer who remain the primary co-ordinator of the work of the design and building of the boat.

ftware is an invaluable tool though out to make drawing and calculation of a specific sail plan easy and to permit the exact and punctual exchange of information between the designers and builders.
