39th Barcolana
The strong Bora didn’t stop all the competitors, more than 1800, partecipating at the 39th Barcolana’s edition: unique the atmosphere on the quay, incomparable the show on the sea. Neville Cricton’s New Zeland maxi Alfa Romeo won again, fixing the new record of the race. Maxi Jena, skippered by Mitija Kosmina, finished 2nd, before an other great Barcolana’s protagonist Esmit Europa (Smcic). A great number of boats equipped with the Spidertech Technology sailed in the Gulf of Trieste. Idrusa Calvi (Montefusco Sailing Project) ranked 7° in the Super Maxi Class. Team Italia Pegaso and Kiwi (Pesaresi) ranked respectively 4° and 7° in the Maxi Class. Roberto Bertocchi’s Millennium 40 Sayonara won in the 2nd Class, while Candida (Marinelli) ranked 3° in the crowded 4° class. Two other platforms came from smaller boats: L’Arcangelo Azzurro (Sifanno) ended 3° in the 5th class and 2005 Minialtura Italian Champion Chardonnay (Guarnieri) ranked 2nd in the 6th class.
