Overall Italian Championship IMS – Pescara
A good opening for Pitikao. Sagola as a confirmation.
With 38 members in Group A (boats longer than 40 feet), and 23 in Group B (for smaller boats) 7 races were conducted smoothly and with good sportsmanship: the IMS Italian Championship organised by the Club Nautico Pescara concluded with these results.
Another IMS Championship in the national spotlight is over and once again, Spidertech played a leading role.
In group A the GS 42R Man ranked first followed by Pitikao, the Millennium 45 of Paolo Balercia that counted on the talent of the Montefusco brothers, the skills of Cicci Spaziani and the creativity of Peppe Mascino, the former champion of the 470, on board as tactician.
Strappati, the laser sportsman, led Shaula to rank 7th overall and 2nd for the category Cruise/Regatta A. For the occasion Shaula, the boat owned by Andrea Giorgetti and Mauro Mocchegiani raced with brand-new sails manufactured with the Spidertech Technology from the Montefusco sail loft.
Libertine (Biscardi) ranking 8th with sails made by Banks Sails Italia manufactured with the patented technology from Fiorenzi Marine Group, Numana.
Here is the ranking list of the other boats using Spidertech sails in Group A: 15th Vahinč (Montanari), 16th Costa Del Salento (Todisco), 28th Jasmine (Zoppi), 36th Vag 2 (Galassi).
The greatest satisfactions came from Group B where Sagola (Pierobon), the new European champion for the GS 37 ranked 2nd, following the L’Ottavo Peccato. L’Altra Claudia (Brenco) and Dufour 34 using Spidertech sails manufactured by Di-Tech from La Spezia ranked respectively 3rd and 4th.
Many of the boats taking part in the IMS Championship in Pescara will also participate in the regatta of Favignana, scheduled for the first weekend of September. The event, planned by Paolo Venanzangeli, is a follow-up of the the Italian Championship, and is becoming a reference mark in the national scheduling.
So let’s meet again on the windy Sicilian coasts.
