Farr 40 Worlds – Copenaghen (DEN)

Spidertech’s first time

After a good begining, winning the first race of the campionship, the first Spidertech’s challange for the Farr 40 World recure in the last two days.

High sailing level, professional teams, many olimpic medalist and windy conditions (15-20 knots). This is the scenery for the first Farr 40 Worlds in which a boat served by Spidertech tecnology ran. In Copenaghen, Alberini’s Calvi-Lightbay Sailing Team showed a good speed, like favourite boats. “We were always very fast -said Alessandro Battistelli, tailer. Sails are very well designed and made by eccellent materials. While we were racing, we considered that our mainsail was very similar than Mascalzone’s, the new world champion: Motefusco’s Sailmaker translated Farr 40’s concept design into fast sails for the boat.“ Though a good boat speed and harmony between the members of the team, Italian boat payed the bill for inexperience: Calvi ended 16 th from second racing day 9 th placement. What regrets? According to Battistelli: “ Too much risks in the most difficoult races, running farr from the course centre in shifty wind”. Another (very popular) italian team is the winner of the Campionship: Vincenzo Onorato’s Mascalzone Latino, who dominated from the first racing day. Second ended Alinghi and third Barking Med. Then 33 teams, among them the Italians: 13. Enfant Terrible, 15. Cannonball, 16. Calvi-Lightbay Sailing Team, 19. Fiamma, 22. Joe Fly.
