SpiderEyes (pat. pend.) is a new invention from Fiorenzi Marine Group that allows sail shapes to be visible at night.

As the Spidertech technology consolidates his position in the Italian market and the Authorised Sail Designers list their victories, FMG launches another innovation that will be revealed at METS 2006.
SpiderEyes sails are created with fibres that are visible at night. The feature allow the trimmer of the sail to adjust the shape of the sails without being forced to use lamps or electricity to see what he is doing. The trimming of the sail is therefore more dynamic, concentration can be maintained at top level and the hands of the sailor are not engaged in holding lamps. The feature obviously translates in to more efficiency and therefore more speed.
Visible sails at night can be safer. The glow around SpiderEyes can be quite visible from distance if the amount of visible fibre is increased with respect of what is needed for easy trimming.
A boat needing assistance hoisting a Spidertech sail made with SpiderEyes technology, will be more easily spotted for rescue.
